Finally, I strongly believe I had a duty to tell my story to those women who want to become mothers. Please go have a visit with Dr. Garza in Matamoros Mexico, you will find professionalism, humanism, dedication and spirituality as I have. Stop wasting your time and hopes on businessmen/doctors who are only after your money. I really don’t think they care about you or your dreams of having a baby.

The first time I heard the word “IVF” was when we found out that there was no other option for us to have our own baby. At that time I didn’t even know the meaning of IVF. Thanks to the Internet we found the answers we needed, except that it was very difficult to get straight answers from the so called “doctors” specializing in IVF. My husband and I prepared an e-mail inquiry detailing our infertility case and asking for the price list for each step that might be required. Once the inquiry was completed, I sent it to doctors and clinics by e-mails all over North America including Canada, also South America, Europe (the “so-called” get your cheap vacation and your baby), and also Israel. Not too long after I began getting answers from different clinics. Most of the ones from North America told me that I had to make an appointment with the doctor. To talk to the doctor it would cost me $300-400 Dollars just for the initial appointment. Since my insurance didn’t cover IVF, I could not spend this amount only to select my doctor. I was very frustrated of their approximate price tag of 20 to 30 thousand Dollars plus medications, plus hospital expenses, plus anesthesiologist’s price, plus lab and many more undefined costs. By the way I never got an answer from the European Clinics. The Israeli clinic sounded like they were cheaper but once you add airplane trip, hotel stay and meals the price becomes even more expensive. I have to tell you the truth I didn’t want to go far away from the US so I decided to stop looking for a solution. Regardless of the decision I’ve made, my heart was bleeding every time I saw a woman with a baby. Sometimes I even thought that maybe I was not supposed to be a mother.

It is very difficult to hide your feelings when you have a soul-mate. I clearly remember my husband told me that we will give it a try one time even if it is very expensive. I didn’t want to go through a very heavy hormonal therapy and end up with nothing like most of the IVF patients. I know for American doctors I would be just a statistical number since they are looking at you as a source of income and as such most likely the IVF will fail. Reading IVF forums I was very discouraged. Some of the women were telling that they could have bought a house if they didn’t spend their money on IVF. Some of them sold their eggs to get a free IVF and although they did get pregnant after several trials, their eggs got hatched elsewhere and found a family. There were so many heart breaking stories out in the Internet that it would be foolish for me to follow the same!

Strangely enough I didn’t stop looking for a solution in Internet. By accident while I was in an IVF forum I found information about Dr. Arturo Garza Morales. The lady in the IVF forum was not very precise about how to get to the homepage of Dr. Garza but I managed to find him through the Mexican hospital connections. She also wrote that the clinic was very close to Brownsville, just across the Texas border in Matamoros, Mexico. We made an appointment with Dr. Garza to explain our case and feel him out. The next week, we flew to Brownsville and got across the border to Matamoros. When we visited Dr. Garza my first impression was that he was a very simple and a very spiritual man. He listened to us most of the time. When we asked about his opinion about any details his answer was very short but very precise. He checked me out using the latest ultrasound machine. I’ve never seen a doctor using an ultrasound machine before. In the US, a technician uses the ultrasound and writes a report. Doctors get the report and make their decision. That is the way things are done in North America so that many “health care professionals” make money on you! Regarding to Dr. Garza’s IVF Clinic, you don’t have to travel anywhere for the blood test or ultrasound or the surgery, everything is done right there in Dr. Garza’s office. In addition to that his prices were very reasonable for our budget. There were no extra charges or legal documents to sign. I remember Dr. Garza telling us that he would never practice in the States as a doctor because of the bureaucracy that surrounds such practice.

Dr. Garza is not just an outstanding doctor with impressive international credentials, he is in my mind a “Medicine Man.” What he does as a Medicine Man gives him a great satisfaction. This kind of satisfaction cannot be bought. He is dedicated to his profession. His approach to the infertility problems is not routine. He believes he must choose a method or use medications as little as possible so as not to interfere with the natural process of conception. It means that you are not going to be an “octomom!” He uses his medical knowledge to have your dreams come true. When I got pregnant I told him that this would have not happened without his help. His modest answer was “Your faith is the one that did it!” He is a very humble person. I really don’t think there is another doctor like him. His associates are also great. The urologist Dr. Jorge Ruiz Cruz is a great surgeon. When he did the biopsy with only local anesthetics on my husband, the way he did the sutures there was no need for dressing at the end. My husband never had pain or inflammation following the procedure. He had prior biopsy and surgery with Dr. Larry Lipshultz and Dr Sherman Silber and after these surgeries he was miserable with swelling and discomfort. These doctors (please look at their ratings in the internet) consider themselves excellent. I really do believe they should get lessons from Dr. Ruiz how to do a proper surgery!
